Several months ago I became addicted to Katamari Damacy and it's sequel, We Love Katamari. I haven't played either game in quite a while since my limited gaming time has been filled with Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas and Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter. During that time I nearly forgot how entertaining the Katamari series really is.

For those that are unfamiliar with the Katamari series, the basic premise is to guide the "Prince of the Cosmos" around a variety of areas while he rolls a katamari and gathers objects. The katamari is a ball that can pick up any object smaller than itself. Over time, the katamari grows to pick up larger and larger objects. In the second installment of the series, the overall objective is to grow large enough to roll up the sun!

Oveall, the Katamari series is a great game. Both games in the series are rated "E" but should probably be rated "M" or "AO" since the King and Prince show blatant disregard for life and property by rolling up everything in sight. In fact, when the katamari gets big enough, the police start shooting! The level of disregard is comparable to that of a highly controversial game series...Grand Theft Auto!

The Grand Theft Auto series is perhaps the most controversial game series ever produced but the open-ended gameplay allows the player to do just about everything, typically involving committing multiple felonies ranging from car theft (imagine that) to all out massacres using any range of weapons. When the character is caught committing felonies, the warrant level rises and the police response becomes more and more extreme.

Getting back to the point though, when I woke up yesterday morning, a great idea came to me. It be really cool if Namco and Rockstar got together and created "Grand Theft Katamari!" I think it could easily be one of the best and most innovative games ever created!

The concept is simple, X years ago, some of the Royal Cousins conspired to have the King of the Cosmos killed, the Prince arrested, and the katamari destroyed. The Prince has been in prison since then and has recently broken out of prison and now he wants revenge.

In order to get his revenge the Prince will have to track down the conspirators and roll them up with a new katamari but first, he needs to find them and they're all hiding.

When the game first starts, the Prince has nothing. He must track down the first conspirator by playing GTA style: finding guns, stealing cars, and committing other felonies. Upon finding and defeating the first conspiring cousin, the Prince will obtain a very weak katamari piece only capable of rolling up small objects. As the game progresses, the katamari will merge with other katamari pieces making is stronger until it is back to its full strength and capable of rolling up the planet. Throughout the game, the player can alternate between Katamari mode and GTA mode to make the game even more enjoyable!

Ok, I know, it will never happen but just imagine how much fun it would be! A quick Google search reveals that I'm not the only one that thinks so. One person even went so far as to create some packaging!
